Overview & Architecture - How SharpGL works

Nov 25, 2011 at 10:23 AM

Hi,

May I have a copy of this documentation for version 1.83?

I am current using SharpGL but I am very clueless on how does it work (e.g. loading models, branchgroups, interactions, animations)

Here is my email address: meranno.principe@gmail.com

I am hoping for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Meranno V. Principe

you might start by reading this

http://glprogramming.com/red/chapter01.html

then read this

http://sharpgl.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Fundamentals

then read this

http://sharpgl.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=OpenGL%20Extensions%20Compatibility&IsNewlyCreatedPage=true

to see what is supported

then you might try to download  the project and look at the example source on how to load and render a file this is in example 4

reading the source code helps  explane how to do somehting sometimes

dwrmkerr: sugestion it might be a good idea to add an API list and all functions with detailed explanation on what they do

i hope this helps

Hi Cky,

Very good idea - I'm going to do a thorough update of the SharpGL documentation as soon as I get a chance, alongside the release of SharpGL 2.0 full, which will be late January (I'm in India for the rest of the year), so I'll keep you all posted when more is done :)

Yes have been all over the place lately, nothing as exciting as holidays unfortunately, have been working on an enterprise architecture for a Belgian company (which has been like hitting my head against a brick wall!).

If there is ANY way to take the source code XML comments and port that to a set of web pages, like MSDN that would be *amazing*, I desperately need this functionality, it would make documenting SharpGL so much easier, do you know if this is possible? Are there any tools out there that would do that - ideally in a way that can be added to the CodePlex page? I'll do some research of my own but any ideas you've got would be great!

Hi there,
You might consider using the Sandcastle Help File Builder to create a MSDN like looking documentation about your source code basing on your xml comments.

You can find it here on codeplex: http://shfb.codeplex.com/

hope I could help you with this.
