How to rotate scene programatically instead of with mouse

This seems like it should be easy since there is code in place to handle dragging a scene with the mouse to rotate or zoom in/out on the entire scene. I would like to do this thru code rather than with the mouse. Is this possible or do you have to use the underlying OpenGL object? If it requires interacting with the OpenGL object, can somebody give me some sample code for this because I am not having any luck with changing a scene view this way? Thanks.

You need a rotate field, and do the transform in Application.Idle event or Timer or background thread.
